Our work has begun.
Will you choose to create the change?
LUSID Residencies is a new Indigenous & survivor led organization that takes children who experience sexual abuse on extended term healing adventures with service dogs, counselors, refugees, and decolonized veterans.
The softness is the point. Right now, the system deals with these children by expecting them to obey and comply while they need autonomy and respect. It adds to the problem. We exist to defend the right of the child to stare at trees or the sky or bugs as long as they need while doing the work of daily living until they are ready to try something big, then we make sure they succeed. That is trauma informed care.
We do not believe anything less is acceptable, because we don’t suck. We believe victims and listen to them rather than being delusional enough to expect obedience from scared children.
What the system gives in compounded trauma. If you believe in the right to space to heal, please, lend a hand today.
We have begun working with our first Indigenous boy to stabilize him as we do the behind the scenes work to be able to take him into the woods, hopefully in August fingers crossed.
Our amazing online followers have already bought about half of the supplies we need to make this happen but we still need more help! He needs a lot of stuff, the first time we met him and the second time a year later, he had one pair of shoes that had holes in it. He was a traumatized and disabled boy who was being bullied for neurodivergence and now he knows he has the support of a whole community of people who get it and want to see him succeed.
When I got to deliver that first box of clothing people donated, I stopped saying “we are going to change the world” and started saying “we are changing the world”, because we are.
And we are desperately needed now.
Read more about our projects below and get involved today. A life depends on us doing the right thing.
At LUSID Residencies, we meet our objective by living our three values:
-
Autonomy
Self actualization and self determination is our highest aim
-
Supporting those who need it most
Continued care for those who were heavily groomed as they may struggle with offending if they are not properly supported
-
Changing the comunity
Support for the family so they can properly support the child through the transition

Residents will be taken out of pre-prepared remote, off grid campsites on the traditional homelands of the Jamestown S’Klallam People of the PNW for extended stays with counselors and veterans to work without distraction.
-
When the fundraising goal is met, land will be purchased for the development of a lodge as a permanent home and expansion of LUSID Residencies on the traditional homelands of the Jamestown S’Klallam People allowing us to help exponentially far more children heal.
-
The ways of healing developed here will be documented for reproduction. The concept is fairly simple. In time, we will identify teams of people across the nation who want to use the name and ways to help develop local systems to serve those in their area.

Our hope is to take children on developmental journeys whenever they need extra support, not just in the immediate aftermath. Healing is not linear. That’s why, we want to have adventures that can keep up with the children who come to us. We fully expect someday to not only have children jump out of our helicopters so they can find their way back through the obstacle courses, but we also intend on helping some of them get pilot’s licenses.
When we say we understand the peaks must outmatch the valleys, we mean it. We know that some of these children will have come to use with awful wounds and in order to fully heal, those children will have to become capable of outmatching their abusers, however they get there.
Traumatic energy finds a way. Always. We want to be there, ready with the path of least resistance, beaten with persistence so that no one has to go at it the painful way, or alone.
-
We are a system of survivors ready to share what works with the next generation. We believe those with lived experience should create, preserve, and grow healing systems for future generations because that is trauma informed care.
We know that failure to thrive here can lead to tragic outcomes and so we are committed to doing the work to ensure the cycle breaks here and now. For good.
-
Beyond a shadow of a doubt.
We will always hold space for survivors to become who they are. Fiercely.
-
As a matter of proper trauma informed care, no, we will never be beholden to a religious organization out of respect to the tremendous amount of children that face victimization in that setting.
If a child, requests specific religious support for their healing journey, we are more than happy to find an appropriate support but we will not be the ones to bring it up.
-
By keeping this free, we are not subject to the willingness of an insurance company to grant you or your loved one access to care. We are empowered by community to provide the support that is needed to do the hard work.
This is a proper decolonized practice that best supports community engagement for healing. We understand that most people care and just don’t know what to do.
If you want to help, we know what to do.
